PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

YLC incorporates parental participation at every opportunity. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged because YLC believes it is critical in order for students to learn up to their full potential at home as well as in school. In addition, YLC requires all parents to support the school through volunteer service. Opportunities for involvement and service include:

• Parent-teacher conferences twice each academic quarter
• Joint parent-student activities, such as community service projects and working in YLC’s Outdoor Living Lab
• Active parent advisory board
• Special events (e.g. graduation ceremony) planning and coordination
• Field trip chaperoning
• Fundraising
• Interviewing, recognizing and rewarding teaching staff
• Annual end-of-school-year family trip.
