About Us

OUR Philosophy

While providing students with a strong academic foundation, YLC strives to stimulate intellectual curiosity, encourage creativity and foster respect for self and others. We further believe that addressing the needs of the whole child and the whole family is critical to academic and life success.

YLC emphasizes a curriculum that teaches to the uniqueness of each mind and respects diversity of all types by promoting mutual respect and communication among individuals and groups. Through fostering an understanding of their own place in the world and the development of critical thinking skills, YLC challenges students to become responsible and informed citizens, and prepares them for leadership roles in a global 21st century society.

In addition, YLC focuses on developing active and adaptive learners who embrace the exploration of their surroundings, through both direct “hands-on” and technologically-enhanced methods. Our goal is to awaken students' minds, nurture them to define a clear sense of self, foster a sense of connection to one another, their communities and the world, and excite them about learning. An interdisciplinary approach to instruction interwoven throughout the entire curriculum fosters an understanding of the inter-relatedness of academic disciplines, cultures, and people.

Studies in core academic areas, including literacy, mathematics, science, geography, history, social studies and foreign language, support individual development and understanding. Studies in the arts, offered as both self-expression and “appreciation” classes, are integrated into the curriculum in such a way as to complement learning in core disciplines and contribute to student growth.
